Our Fleet Begins Here

Every organization has a beginning.

For Lake Guntersville Junior Sailing, one of our most important milestones was putting our very first dedicated safety boat on the water.

Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of our Founding Sponsor, Law Office of Mitchell J. Howie & Associates, that milestone is now a reality.

While young sailors experience the excitement of learning to harness the wind, race with teammates, and build confidence on the water, a safety boat quietly serves one of the most important roles in every program. Whether assisting a sailor after a capsize, responding to changing weather, or providing support during practices and regattas, it helps create a safe environment where children can learn, grow, and challenge themselves with confidence.

This generous gift represents far more than the purchase of a boat. It is an investment in every child who will discover sailing through our program for years to come.

As our Founding Sponsor, the Law Office of Mitchell J. Howie & Associates has helped lay the foundation for a stronger, safer future for youth sailing in North Alabama. Their belief in our mission came at a pivotal moment, and we are deeply grateful for their partnership.

One tradition was especially important to us. Our young sailors enthusiastically submitted name ideas for our newest addition to the fleet, and we invited our Founding Sponsor to choose the winning name. It's a small way to connect the generosity that made this boat possible with the children whose lives it will impact.

Just as this boat will watch over our sailors on the water for years to come, its name will forever remind us of the generosity that helped launch Lake Guntersville Junior Sailing. We can't wait to share the winning name with everyone soon!

From all of our sailors, families, volunteers, and future generations of Herons—thank you for believing in what we're building together.

Fair winds,

Lake Guntersville Junior Sailing
